The class culminates in a group showcase performance, featuring 1 to 2 of their strongest songs learned over the course of 12 weeks, performed in unison, featuring solos and duets. ESTEAM Inventions & Entrepreneurship (5-7) $150 Biz Lab Tampa Bay [email protected] Students will use entrepreneurship + STEAM to invent a new product to pitch on showcase day! They'll choose a problem they want to solve, invent a solution, get hands-on to build a prototype out of recycled materials, create packaging that appeals to their target demographic, and make an ad for their product. They'll also write a sales pitch and film a commercial for their invention! Students will have a blast learning problem-solving, innovation, product invention, market research, prototype design, branding & logos, product pitching & presentation. Intro to Drawing (9-18) $120 Angel Mercado [email protected] Students will be introduced to basic techniques from how to hold the pencil, to how to draw the basic shapes we find in most drawings: Value scale, how to measure using the pencil, shading techniques, how to create the illusion of depth. 3D effects, introduction to the human figure. Students will have the option to choose what to draw, this way they become more involved during class. I try to keep a nice and relaxed atmosphere while keeping them engaged during class.
Jr. SERE Level 1 (6-12) $100 Laura Sellinger [email protected] Junior SERE Level 1 (Survival, Emergency Readiness, Resilience, Exploration) is a 12-week foundational class designed to give kids ages 6–12 the essential skills to handle real-life situations. Through interactive games, team challenges, and scenario-based learning, students will build awareness, practice basic first aid, learn hurricane and water safety, and develop strong decision-making skills. This course is taught in a positive, age-appropriate way that focuses on empowerment—not fear—helping even younger students build confidence while older students are challenged to think more independently. Junior SERE Level 1 serves as the entry-level course, and graduates will have the opportunity to advance into Level 2 for more in-depth, advanced skill development.

Students will learn machine sewing skills while creating stylish clothing and accessories they can wear, use, and share. Students will practice: sewing machine safety and basics, simple stitching techniques, fabric cutting and pinning, adding decorative details and personal style, and following easy step-by-step patterns. Each class ends with an engaging read-aloud where students step into their “story detective” roles to strengthen comprehension, confidence, and communication skills. Designed for ages 5–8, this class blends early academic skills with social development. Teen Travel Planning (13-18) $120 Erin McEachern [email protected] In this teen-focused, 12-lesson travel planning course, we will build real-world skills while keeping each session engaging and geographically focused. We will mix creativity with practical research, budgeting, and cultural awareness as we develop incredible but achievable travel itineraries. Course Goals Students will: - Learn how to research destinations effectively - Understand weather, seasons, and timing - Explore cultural awareness and local customs - Build budgeting and itinerary skills - Collaborate to create complete travel plans We will be using a multitude of media in our research. All hard-copy research books will be provided in class. Students should also be prepared to conduct personal or small group research online on student devices. You Can Be an Author (8-12) $120 Betty Larrea [email protected] In this creative writing class, we will explore different genres (sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, non-fiction) and the literary elements needed to write your own book or graphic novel. Students will develop their book idea and gain confidence with engaging writing prompts, peer feedback, group exercises and games to tap into their creativity and bring their original book idea to life! Each week, we will explore key elements of storytelling and writing a book. The class will end with an Open Mic Celebration, where students will share their writing publicly. The requirement is to have taken watercolor classes in the past. The difference between Watercolor 1 and this class, is that we will go more in depth with more advance techniques and color mixing. One goal is to go through the whole process from start to finishing a painting. We will also be taking up to two classes to complete a painting, which is difficult to achieved in Watercolor 1. Fandom Fanatics is a place for teens ages 13–18 to share their favorite fandoms, discover new ones, and connect with others who love the same things! Hi, my name is Sophia Saccente, and I am 16. During the first week, everyone will share their favorite fandoms, bring a favorite fandom item to show off, and help choose which fandoms we'll explore throughout the semester. This class is all about having fun, keeping an open mind, and respecting everyone's interests. Explicit or inappropriate content is not allowed, and questionable content must be approved before being discussed in class. We'll end the semester with a cosplay party where students can dress as a favorite character and bring a themed dish to share! Cosplay is optional, and fandom clothing is welcome too. Mind Your Business (7-12) $150 Biz Lab Tampa Bay [email protected] Launch your business this semester! Come up with your own business idea, create a business plan including what it takes to start up, marketing strategy, and making a profit! We hold a real market on showcase day! This will be hands-on developing their own ideas into a real business and getting them ready for market! We'll learn a little about graphic design in Canva so students can create their own logo and business cards at home. We'll also do fun arts and crafts like creating flyers, posers and banners for showcase day. They'll keep a ledger of how much money we need to spend to start up, and make a goal to make sure they break even and turn a profit! As homework, students will be asked to use critical thinking to identify things from class in the real world, then come prepared to talk about it next class. They're encouraged to create designs in Canva from home, and work on their business as they see fit. There is no cost for materials necessarily, but students are encouraged to have a 'start up budget' of $25 to purchase what they need to start their business. You Can Publish Your Own Book (8-12) $144 Betty Larrea[email protected] In this creative writing class, young authors will learn how to take their first draft of their book and get it ready for print publishing. This advanced class is a continuation of the Spring 2026 YOU CAN BE AN AUTHOR Class and is open to all students who completed that class OR who have a finished FIRST DRAFT of their children’s book, chapter book or graphic novel. Students will take the next steps on their journey to publishing. As they continue to write, edit and illustrate their book, they will create a publishing timeline/plan, practice basic word processing, learn to use Canva for book layout and explore the various types of publishing and print options available. Students must have access to a laptop computer or tablet with Google Docs and Canva installed. The class is led by published children’s book author and book coach Betty Larrea, who has helped 15 authors write, edit, and self-publish their books. The Young Entrepreneurs Challenge (13-18) $150 Lauren Golden [email protected] The Young Entrepreneur Challenge is a hands-on homeschool experience designed to help teens make real money! This isn’t a sit-and-listen class. It’s a do-the-thing, figure-it-out, try-again kind of environment where students learn entrepreneurship by actually starting a business. Over the course of the program, students will: develop and validate a business idea; create and sell a product or service; learn real-world skills like marketing, sales, and money management; participate in the HOP marketplace; and prepare and deliver a final pitch in a Shark Tank-style competition. ABC's of Chess (8-18) $75 Eric Clemenson[email protected] This class is for absolute beginners and for those who have had a limited experience with the game. Each class will consist of a learning portion and a play portion. After all chess is a game and is meant to be played! We will learn/review the rules and customs of the game and reinforce learning with practice drills such as the “Knight's Corral” and by playing chess variants such as the Pawn Game and Presto Chess. After covering basic information, the learning portion will include solving chess puzzles such as “Triple Lloyds” and playing over master games during which students are encouraged to try to reason out a master's moves. In order for games to completed in limited class time, the use of chess clocks will be encouraged, but not required, Tournament quality pieces, boards and clocks are provided. In this class each student will choose from a different job/jobs such as interviewer, reporter, cartoonist, editorial writer, reviewer (movie, restaurant, event, etc.), marketer/advertiser (someone who comes up with ideas/ways to advertise the paper and get people interested), advice columnist, photographer, etc. Will go over each job, from learning how to conduct an interview to ways to improve writing skills, and more! Due to us putting out our own paper, students will have to do work outside of class that will vary in work size depending on what job/jobs they are interested in doing, along with deadlines. Yoga Art Adventures (4-8) $120 Betty Larrea [email protected] This fun and creative class blends yoga, movement, breathwork, and relaxation with mindful art, literacy, creative play, and engaging games. Each week, children will explore social- emotional learning through yoga and storytelling and a mindful art project that integrates each week’s theme. Inside Out (8-12) $150 Sierra Beckwith [email protected] In this class, we will dive in deep. This one is all about getting to discover what’s going on inside and how to identify, talk about, and act on the emotions and feelings, we all experience as they stir up inside of us. We will discuss 10 core topics on emotional intelligence and self regulation, integrating activities, exercises, strategies, and self-reflection into the classroom discussions. During the 12 weeks, the children will get to know one another and themselves in a unique way. We will dive deep inside to the core of who we all are and what makes our emotions tick. As emotions run quite abstractly, so will the course as we navigate through the semester to meet the needs of the group. Although I cannot tell you the specific order in which these topics will be discussed, they are as follows: Understanding emotions Recognizing stress deep breathing techniques positive self talk mindfulness and being present Identifying and expressing emotions developing empathy managing anger building resilience creating a balanced routine teacher guided/group led discussions offer children an awareness that they are not alone and going through big emotions -that their peers experience similar things as well. The Royale Game (10-18) Eric Clemenson [email protected] This class is for experienced players and students from my introductory class, The ABCs of Chess. In addition to traditional chess, students will be introduced to chess variants such as Bughouse and Chess960. An optional unrated chess tournament and Bughouse tournament are available to interested students, with trophies awarded to the top finishers. Tournament quality pieces, boards and clocks will be provided. The use of chess clocks is required for tournament play and encouraged, but not required, for casual play. Each class consists of a learning portion and a play portion. The learning portion will mostly consist of solving chess problems and playing over master games, during which students will be encouraged to suggest/predict a master's moves. In addition, there will be some interactive lessons in basic opening play and basic endgame theory. After the lesson, play! Chess is both mental exercise and fun. In this class, we combine the two! Analyzing the Plot: Debate Class (13-18) $75 Kaya Pollycutt [email protected] Hello, in this class we will be analyzing the plot then debating/discussing the main theme of the movie, analyzing/diving into the story, characters, plot, emotions, reasons, events, morels, and over all them, etc. Then debating/discussing the main theme that ran throughout the movie such as City of Angles; analyzing Seth’s (an angel that falls) and Maggie’s (a heart surgeon) relationship and the love that they develop, talking about Tuck Ever Lasting; Tuck and Winny’s relationship and how it develops, Tuck’s family's relationship, the length that humans would go for the chance of immortality, and the damage and perception that it can cause. Then debating whether immortality is truly worth it. This is a physiological class discussing and debating serious and fun topics in an informal manner, it’s not needed to come in with a strong conviction of which side you believe in, just to come in willing to hear different sides.

Wildlife Discovery: Extended Edition (at neighboring parks) (7-10) $160 Damon Chepren [email protected] In this double length class, have fun exploring the natural world as we seek out the flora and fauna of Florida, from megafauna to microscopic, and use our discoveries to learn about ecosystems, classification, adaptation, life cycles, symbiotic relationships, and conservation through inquiry-based learning. For the sake of exploring diverse biomes, this class will meet at several nearby nature parks including Foley Farms and Philippe Park just minutes away from co-op, rather than at the ranch. To allow for travel time to the park, class will begin with 10 minutes of free exploration before instruction starts and will end at 3:45pm. Plan to get your feet wet and your hands dirty as this class is all about getting out and immersing ourselves in nature. Activities will include dip netting, water testing, hiking, catch and release sampling, animal encounters, and just plain nature discovery. Each week will have a theme, but our learning will be driven by what we find along the way.
